Be-Troit bringt junge Künstler*innen aus Berlin und Detroit zusammen und nutzt Hip-Hop, Musik, Film und andere kreative Ausdrucksformen als Grundlage für Begegnung und internationalen Austausch. Im Mittelpunkt stehen dabei nicht nur die gemeinsamen künstlerischen Produktionen, sondern vor allem die Beziehungen, die während des Projekts entstehen.
Aus Sicht der Straßensozialarbeit schafft Be-Troit Räume, die vielen jungen Menschen sonst nur schwer zugänglich sind. Internationale Mobilität, kultureller Austausch und die Möglichkeit, die eigene Kunst in einem professionellen Umfeld zu präsentieren, sind noch immer stark von sozialen und finanziellen Voraussetzungen abhängig. Be-Troit versucht, genau diese Barrieren abzubauen. Junge Menschen werden dabei nicht als Teilnehmer*innen eines vorgegebenen Programms verstanden, sondern gestalten den Austausch selbst mit – mit ihren Erfahrungen, ihrer Musik, ihren Geschichten und ihren Perspektiven. Die gemeinsame kreative Arbeit wird so zum Türöffner für Vertrauen, persönliche Entwicklung und Begegnungen über soziale, kulturelle und nationale Grenzen hinweg.
Der neue Dokumentarfilm „The BE-TROIT Experience“ begleitet diesen Prozess zwischen Berlin und Detroit und erzählt gleichzeitig von Detroit selbst: von der Geschichte der Stadt, ihrer außergewöhnlichen Musikkultur und dem Einfluss von Persönlichkeiten wie J Dilla. Im Film kommen neben den jungen Künstler*innen auch Detroit-Größen wie Guilty Simpson und Davina zu Wort.
Am Mittwoch, den 9. September 2026, kehrt die Geschichte nun nach Detroit zurück: „The BE-TROIT Experience“ feiert seine Detroit-Premiere in der Hunt Street Station, 220 Hunt Street. Einlass ist um 18 Uhr, die Filmvorführung beginnt um 18:30 Uhr. Ab 20 Uhr folgt ein Be-Troit Live Showcase, bevor der Abend ab 22 Uhr bei einem gemeinsamen Community Mixer ausklingt.

Be-Troit brings together young artists from Berlin and Detroit, using hip-hop, music, film, and other forms of creative expression as a foundation for connection and international exchange. At the heart of the project are not only the artistic works created together, but above all the relationships that develop along the way.
From a street social work perspective, Be-Troit creates opportunities that are still difficult for many young people to access. International travel, cultural exchange, and the chance to present one’s art in a professional environment are often dependent on social and financial circumstances. Be-Troit aims to break down these barriers. Young people are not simply participants in a predetermined program; they actively shape the exchange through their experiences, their music, their stories, and their perspectives. Creative collaboration becomes a doorway to trust, personal growth, and meaningful encounters across social, cultural, and national boundaries.
The new documentary “The BE-TROIT Experience” follows this process between Berlin and Detroit while also telling the story of Detroit itself—its history, its extraordinary musical culture, and the lasting influence of figures such as J Dilla. Alongside the young artists, the film also features Detroit artists including Guilty Simpson and Davina.
On Wednesday, September 9, 2026, the story returns to Detroit as “The BE-TROIT Experience” celebrates its Detroit premiere at Hunt Street Station, 220 Hunt Street. Doors open at 6:00 PM, with the documentary screening beginning at 6:30 PM. At 8:00 PM, the evening continues with a Be-Troit Live Showcase, followed by a Community Mixer at 10:00 PM.
